Actually, I have never reviewed what I've done for the past years, I have reviewed what I've done when each semester ends instead.
According to the diaries before, I didn't do anything special on last January first. I practiced playing the piano music "Tifa's Theme" during the days near January first. It's a beautiful music, although Manic thinks it's a little unnatural. This song expresses too much emotion, and therefore it loses some natural feeling. For me, it's in accordance with my favorite. Being able to play the whole music is an effort of what I did in music. It's a pity that I haven't composed any new music and learned any music theory.
The biggest thing for earning money is getting a case from Institute of Education in NCTU. The professor wanted to demonstrate the motions of H2O in gas form, liquid form and solid form. The most challenge part is to take a snapshot of the motions, that is, pressing a button and then store the motions of current time in the database. This program is coded by Java. There are some other problems, like simulate the motions of H2O in different forms and design a not bad graphic user interface. Through using some tricks and learning some new techniques, I think I did the job well. After that, the professor conformed my ability. She thought a student who can program in Java well, can also program in PHP well. I don't know why she would think in this way, while the result was I got a long term job in the Institute of Education.
The most important thing in this year is I decide to study theories. After thinking for a several weeks, I would like to be a person who stands in the middle of scientists and engineers. I learned many engineer skills but lacking the ability of theory. It's a shame that I haven't put many time on theories after this decision. I just signed two theoretical courses, which are Statistics and Randomized Algorithm. The progress of my plan is nothing. Yes, I made a big decision and did nothing. Sometimes I can't tell which thing is more important in short terms. Therefore, I put off the studies again and again, and found I was wrong after the end of a long term.
The new area I enjoyed is Chinese poems. I spent some time composing poems, and finally composed two poems. Reread the poems is very interesting, and 王維 is really a excellent poet. During this period of reading poems and composing poems, I found I loved 王維's poems more than 李白's. 李白 is my most favorite poet before. At first I was bothered by how to compose gorgeous poems like 王維 did. His poems are simple, natural and beautiful. For each poem, the scene in serenity is in front of my eye naturally. I didn't know how he could make this. I tried to read the story of his life, and I got it. The answer is simple. His life is concentrated into each simple poems. The simple words are actually non-simple words. What I lack is experience of life.
For fun, I adopted the idea of Dice War, added some idea of my friends and mine and then programed the new game Wow!Dice War!!.
About living, I moved out from the dormitory to a department with three colleague friends, and therefore I must have a motorcycle to move between the school and my new home. Fortunately, my older brother happens to drive a car instead of riding a motorcycle. I got his motorcycle soon. Living in my own room is very convenient. I can play music loudly and have big desktop to read and write. Although the cost of living outside of the school is much higher, I think it's worth. If I have more time and money, I'd like to buy an e-piano, so I can play the piano whenever I want to.
A important change which I should mention is I started to post on the blog and organize my notes on the wiki. There is a huge change in the way I use the computer. I stored the data on the internet as many as I can. Therefore I can access them anywhere. I like these new services on "Web 2.0". They helps me a lot.
If I should make a wish for myself, I wish I could concentrate on the researches, not lose the interests in other fields and control my mind to do the most important thing every time.
